
Beads and Fibres with Alison Nash (Day Workshop)
​Beaded Collar or Panel/Bag Front.
​Requirements List
Small pointed scissors for cutting paper. Black biro, pencil, rubber, ruler or tape measure and dressmaker's pins.
The sizes below are for a bead embroidererd collar. If making a panel or bag front, you will need the completed size that you are making plus approx 2.5cm (1 in) all the way round.
28cm x 28cm (11" x 11") acrylic felt - dark grey for a dark collar/panel, white for a very light one i.e. wedding.
28cm x 28cm (11" x 11") heavy weight interfacing - sew in.
28cm x 28cm (11" x 11") ultrasuede - only necessary for a collar.
Glue - Bostick - Alison will bring some for students use.
Beading needle and thread.
Beads - all shapes and sizes but size 11 and 15 seed beads are used to embroider around the cabochons etc. Keep to a colour theme with possible highlights. Pearls, crystals and anything else you would like to include. Also some matching size 15's to fill in tiny gaps. Background beads - Alison has used a lot of black or other dark colours in hers to emphasize the main elements and cabochons. PLEASE NOTE ALISON DOESN'T SELL SIZE 15 BEADS WHICH ARE NEEDED TO BEAD AROUND THE CABOCHONS.
Cabochons - Alison will have some for sale on the day.
Chain or beads to finish - students will not finish their collar on the day, so may wish to think about this later.
Cabochons, felt, interfacing and ultasuede will be available for sale on the day.
